Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania Receives Four Razzie Nominations

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania Receives Four Razzie Nominations

Outsiders - January 22, 2024
Quantumania, the latest installment in the Ant-Man and the Wasp franchise, has received unfavorable recognition at the 2023 Golden Raspberry Awards. The esteemed nominating committee has deemed it one of the worst movies of the year, making it a significant milestone for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Razzies nominations were announced on Monday, and Quantumania has garnered four nominations, including Worst Director and Worst Supporting Actor for Michael Douglas and Bill Murray. The movie also got a nod for Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off, or Sequel. It's a first for Marvel Studios to be nominated for such an award.

Not surprising. It feels like they really lost the ball with this one. For me this was only a filler movie with nothing to offer but that mid credit scene. I know the MCU is a whole connected world and they have to set things up for what's coming, but the story that is being primarily told in a movie should come first. Movies like this that are used only as a stepping stone for future releases, are destined to fail. Honestly one of the weakest entries in the MCU.

Unfortunate but not surprised. Could barely finish the film.

Another vote for Love and Thunder being the worst MCU. It Angered me with its crappiness. Especially as someone who thinks the source material is among the best comics I've ever read.

Personally I don't get what people like about all these cop/lawyer/hospital/disaster shows. I have NCIS fatigue. Every add I see for network TV makes me cringe as hard as Echo or L and T or Secret Invasion. Or harder. And most of them have 100-90% tomatometer and audience scores. I just wish our movies weren't so expensive to make so the need for it to be a Blockbuster to break even wasn't so important and we could just have our niche cult classics.

Oh, come on. Bill Murray was the only fun thing in that whole boring movie.

I'm a pretty big apologist when it comes to the MCU, I am usually happy just to watch Marvel movies, so I tend to sway on the positive side, but Love & Thunder was mad dookie, like just off the rails bad, I have never disliked a Marvel movie more, I liked about 20 minutes of it (that fight with Gorr on the planet he was hiding on was a visual masterpiece), the movie had cringe worthy comedy, terrible story, bad character arcs, they turned characters into huge jokes and ruined them, a horrible ending, horrible new characters, it was just a slab of stank, it made me actually appreciate the MCU movies I didn't like as much.

I would never watch it again, would like it if Disney/Marvel said it wasn't even canon and was a fever dream that Thor had,

But Quantumania I have happily watched more then once.

Yes the most disrespectful thing that ever happened to Thor was that movie. Garbage.

Glad someone mentioned Love and Thunder. It would be darn near impossible to make another MCU movie worse than that mess. There are piles left by my dog in the backyard that stink less than that movie did lol.

Yeah No I really didn't have a problem with this movie, I don't care what the critics say, I enjoyed it, it was fun, and visually pleasing, I mean I am biased since I just love Paul Rudd, the internet hated this movie so I guess that's what the Razzie's are going with, but dissing MODOK is kinda a cheap shot, since he was meant to not be taken serious and was a joke, Bill Murray being hated on seems like just nonsensical he literally was in the movie for like 10 minutes, and what did Micheal Douglas do wrong here? either way whatever, I don't think this movie deserves the hate, Love & Thunder was by far worse, and the worst movie in the MCU to date.

In general I find that my personal enjoyment of movies is almost always directly the opposite of "critics". I thoroughly enjoyed most of the movies on the "Razzies" list whereas you couldn't pay me to ever sit and watch many of the Oscar nominated films (like Oppenheimer for example). It is what it is, people have different tastes. Fortunately there is still a lot of stuff that gets made for all of us to enjoy.
